Celebrating 5 Years and Our 2nd Cafe Sarree

The month of August, though often dubbed as "ghost month" for those who believe in this tradition where most people hold off on embarking on a project, or in our line of work, they don't start construction, it happened to be a time when I hired two of my valuable employees who have made significant contributions to the success of HL Designs today. This August, we celebrate the 5 years of service of Idr. Cyril Ocaba and Archt. Kristin Ducao!

There's no better way to celebrate than with the opening of the second branch of Cafe Sarree located at the Rustan's Supermarket level of Ayala Center Cebu.

As you enter, a long solid wood table sits in the middle of the room, with a mix of different kinds of stools and oversized lamps hanging above.

A funky feature on the left: what seems to be a large picture frame is actually the hand wash area.

Today's Specials is written on wooden chopping boards.

WATEVER KTV - Lapu Lapu City, Cebu

I'm not a big karaoke fan, maybe because I can't really sing. But at least I can design one.

Watever KTV opened its second branch in Cebu last December 2013 in Pueblo Verde, Lapu Lapu City. HL Designs is happy to be part of the WKTV family. We designed our first WKTV in Dumaguete City in 2012.

The hallway - each of the doors leading to the rooms are marked with a drop ceiling above with up lighting, painted in the signature WKTV colours.

The standard KTV rooms come in three different colours: blue, orange and green. Each one has a 42" flat screen TV mounted on the wall, state-of-the-art karaoke system, and 2 microphones. The walls are padded on 2 sides and the ceiling is clad in acoustic ceiling boards for better sound absorption.

2013: The Golden Year

As 2013 comes to a close, I look back at all the projects HL Designs has done with a smile and a grateful heart for we have been blessed.

With the completion of 6 Golden Cowrie restaurants this year, it has been a golden year for us. First, we did the al fresco area at its original branch in Salinas drive, Lahug, Cebu City, which I wrote about earlier this year. Then almost simultaneously, the SM City, Cebu branch was renovated, and 2 new stores were built in Mandaue City: one along A.S. Fortuna, then another one at Park Mall.

On December 8, Golden Cowrie inaugurated 2 new branches outside Cebu: Butuan City and Puerto Princessa City, Palawan.

We at HL Designs are very grateful for the opportunity given to us to design the new restaurants and I can only hope and pray that the Golden Cowrie group will continue to be blessed as they have been a blessing to us.
